Wedding Guest FOTD/OOTD

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful vintage style wedding. I know its that time of the year again when weddings seem to be happening everywhere so I thought this would be fun to share what I wore outfit & makeup wise and how I came up with this particular look.

When attempting to decide on what to wear I knew for the outfit I wanted to go with something chic and classy but with some color to it. I also wanted the style to be something mature but still youthful. Height wise I'm only 5 ft, so its very easy to quickly fall into that looking like I'm in high school again or younger category. Since I currently did not own anything that fit this description I had to go dress hunting. You all know that I am a bargain hunter, so I set a limit for myself on the dress of about $30. I went to several different places and tried on countless dresses in various styles. Places like H&M, Charlotte Russe, Sidecca, Forever 21, Papaya, JC Penny's, Macy's.....the list goes on. I just couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. Then I decided to go to Ross. I remembered that years ago I had been able to find some really nice inexpensive dresses there. I had immediately found several that I liked and this is the gorgeous blue dress I ended up purchasing!

I love everything about this dress! The first thing that caught my eye was the color. Its a beautiful shade of blue and so bright! Below are some more specific details that I love about the dress.

-I really like the V neckline the dress has. I feel it creates a really nice flattering shape to the upper half of the dress while still keeping it fun and youthful with the ruffle detail.
-I also really enjoy how the dress is gathered towards the center and then just casually drapes down below the chest area. I thing this is a really flattering cut that would be great for a variety of body shapes. It gives you that nice feminine shape on the upper half while at the same time being loose on the bottom half so it doesn't cling to tightly anywhere to accentuate my not so flat stomach.

For the shoes I decided to just go with something I had. Since the wedding was supposed to be vintage style I choose to wear these. These I purchased a while back at Payless for around $20. All the little cutouts and details on them reminded me of something vintage.

Side View
For makeup I decided to I wanted to do kind of a Hollywood Glam type of look but to use orange somewhere to complement the blue in the dress. They are both complementary colors of each other and when paired together it creates a really nice effect.
I ended up applying a bright orange/coral type of color on my lips and also painting my toes that color.

Makeup Used:
Face: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse set with E.l.f. Complexion Perfection. I then used Nyc Mosaic Face Powder in All Over Bronze Glow to contour and warmup my face.
Eyes: I first started off with the Maybelline color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze and applied it to my crease and all over my lid. I then used the Wetnwild color icon single in Brulee(Matte Cream) under my brow, the matte medium brown from the Wetnwild Vanity palette just above the crease, the shimmery bronze color from Wnw Vanity (in the crease, on the lid and lower lashline). I applied the dark matte brown from the Wnw Vanity on the out third of the crease and the Wnw Color Icon single in Panther(Matte Black) on the outer forth of the crease. I used the e.l.f. shimmer eyeliner pencil in Ivory on the inner corner, the E.l.f. cream liner in brown on the lower lashline and the black on the upper lashliner. Lastly I applied the e.l.f. volume plumping mascara to my lower lashes and the Eyelure Katy Perry Lashes in Cool Kitty.
Lips: Revlon's Kiss Me Coral

I also used these earrings I have because I thought they went well with the whole vintage theme as well.

And here is the look with the eyes closed. For my hair I just decided to do me regular hairstyle and straighten it :)

FOTD 5/18 "Blue Violet Bliss"

Some days I wake up and have the sudden urge to wear a certain color. As you can tell from my blog, Youtube, and Facebook I have a slight obsession with purple so this tends to happen most with that color.

For the eyes I wanted to do something a little on the smokey side but still keep them colorful. As for the rest of the face I decided on giving the cheeks a warm soft rosy glow and finishing off the look with a warm pink lip.

The look with the eyes open

With the eyes closed. Not sure what happened to my eyebrow here.haha

NOTD Gold & Red Glitter Fading into Red

My nails with the glitter polish bottle.
This is a new polish I just picked up the other day and when I saw it I just fell in love with the colors. It has gold glitter with larger pieces or red glitter. This is one of several of the China Glaze Polishes from the Hunger Games collection. I purchased this over at my Hot Topic I always go to along with a few other items that I show in this video here:

All in all I love the polish though and immediately knew the look I wanted to try when I saw it.

These are the two main colors I used. China Glaze Electrify and Revlon Fire Fox.
I first painted all my nails red with fire fox and then used the glitter to paint only the tips. Next I used the glitter again and painted over the tips again to build the glitter but then started to drag it down towards the base of my nails so that it appears to fade. Then lastly I used a clear topcoat to finish off the look.

My favorite part about this nail look is although you see the red at the bottom you also see some red glitter among the gold glitter too. I think it adds a nice balance to the look.

These are the polishes I used from left to right (China Glaze Polish in Electrify from the Hunger Games Collection, Revlon Matte Suede Polish in Fire Fox, and Nutra Nail Touch of Color Strengthener.)

So those are my nails for right now. What type of colors or looks are you sporting right now?
